Global Banking and Markets

Global Banking and Markets (GBM) conducts the Bank’s wholesale banking and capital markets business with corporate, government and institutional investor clients. GBM is a full-service wholesale bank and investment dealer in Canada and Mexico and offers a range of products and services in the U.S., Latin America and in select markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

More specifically, GBM provides clients with: corporate lending; transaction banking (including payments, trade finance and cash management); investment banking (including corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions); fixed income and equity underwriting, sales, trading and research; prime services (prime brokerage and stock lending); foreign exchange sales and trading; commodity derivatives; and collateral management.

 

Purpose:

The Analyst, Data Engineering & BI (Business Intelligence) Developer is part of the Client Insights & Analytics team within Global Banking and Markets. The role supports business strategy and decision-making by delivering end-to-end data and reporting solutions, including data modeling, data pipeline automation, and dashboard development.

This position bridges business intelligence and data engineering, translating business needs into scalable data solutions and actionable insights that enhance reporting, client strategy, and business performance.

 

What You’ll Do:

Data Engineering & Data Modeling

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to efficiently extract, transform, and load (ETL / ELT) data
  • Develop and maintain robust data models to support analytics and reporting, ensuring consistency and reliability
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and mapping across multiple systems and large datasets
  • Contribute to the development of analytical tools, models, and reusable data assets

Data Quality, Governance & Process Improvement

  • Validate, reconcile, and monitor data across systems to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Drive improvements in data processes, controls, and automation
  • Apply best practices in data governance, transformation, and modeling

Business Intelligence & Reporting Delivery

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Translate business requirements into scalable reporting and analytics solutions that support decision-making
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, interpret results, and present findings clearly
  • Automate reporting processes and enhance reporting capabilities to improve efficiency and user adoption

Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Support

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Support ad hoc requests from leadership and business partners with timely analytics and insights
  • Leverage internal and external data to identify business opportunities and enhance client insights
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment focused on delivering value-added analytics

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field)
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in analytics, data engineering, reporting, or related fields
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and multiple data sources
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify insights, and support business decision-making
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and matrixed environments

Technical Skills

  • Power BI (dataflows, semantic models, DAX, Power Query, dashboards)
  • SQL (advanced querying, data extraction, transformation)
  • Data modeling (dimensional modeling, performance optimization)
  • ETL / ELT processes and data pipeline development
  • Excel (advanced data analysis and reporting)
  • Data validation, reconciliation, and quality control technique

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with Python or other programming languages. Knowledge of capital markets or financial services industry. Familiarity with CRM systems and client data platforms. Exposure to advanced analytics, algorithm design, or data science techniques.

Work Arrangement:

This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
