Business Analyst

Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid)

The Role

This position is for a Technical & Business Analyst who brings a mix of advanced software skills and business know-how. You’ll focus on reviewing and improving business processes, especially around financial reporting and intranet systems like SharePoint 2016 and ServiceNow. The job includes gathering information, analyzing needs, suggesting better digital solutions and ensuring everything works smoothly across platforms. Experience with compliance risk, technical analysis and hands-on work with databases and financial tools is important.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Gather and record what customers need for financial reports, focusing on SharePoint 2016, Nintex workflows and related web and intranet solutions.
• Review old systems built with Excel, SharePoint 2016 and Nintex, then suggest new options using ServiceNow.
• Work closely with architects to design solutions that meet both business goals and technical needs.
• Offer technical advice and help during setup, including running tests for new solutions.
• Write clear documents outlining requirements, suggested solutions, test plans and implementation steps.
• Keep stakeholders informed and involved, making sure their needs and feedback shape the final solutions.

What You Bring to the Table

• Solid understanding of SharePoint 2016, SharePoint Online and web-based workflow tools.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow in roles such as business analyst, developer, or administrator.
• Familiar with database structures and data models.
• Background in software design and architecture.
• Skilled at breaking down complex business and technical challenges and coming up with practical solutions.
• Clear communicator who can explain technical ideas to people without a technical background, both in writing and speaking.
• Strong problem solver who thinks creatively and critically.
• Approaches challenges with an engineering mindset, aiming for the best solution at a reasonable cost.
• Currently residing in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and holding, or being eligible to obtain, a Government of Canada Reliability security clearance.
