Position Summary

The Data Analyst will support analytics and reporting initiatives across a large-scale rail repair and operations business. This role partners closely with business stakeholders and IT to gather requirements, analyze operational data, and deliver actionable insights through dashboards and reports.

The analytics function is still evolving, offering a unique opportunity to help shape reporting standards, data models, and analytics strategy during a period of growth and ERP transformation. This role blends technical data analysis with strong business-facing communication and is ideal for someone who wants ownership, visibility, and the chance to build—rather than inherit—a mature analytics environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze operational and supply chain data related to procurement, inventory, logistics, scheduling, and demand planning
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and automated reports using Power BI
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for data extraction and modeling
  • Support data integration, transformation, and validation efforts using SQL and Python
  • Partner with business teams to gather requirements and translate needs into analytical solutions
  • Collaborate with IT on data architecture, pipelines, and future-state analytics platforms
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and support data quality and governance efforts
  • Identify process inefficiencies and deliver data-driven recommendations to improve performance and reduce cost
  • Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in data analytics, reporting, or a similar role
  • Internship or applied master’s program experience will be considered
  • Strong SQL skills beyond basic queries (joins, CTEs, window functions)
  • Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports using Power BI
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and gather requirements from business stakeholders
  • Eligibility to work without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, or data warehousing concepts
  • Exposure to Python, advanced Excel, or automation tools
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure data services (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Fabric)
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations or system transitions
  • Background in industrial, logistics, rail, or asset-intensive environments

What You Get

  • Competitive base salary between $70K–$90K
  • Day-one benefits including health coverage and retirement contributions
  • Opportunity to help shape a growing analytics function with high business visibility
  • Hands-on exposure to ERP transformation (Microsoft D365) and future analytics initiatives
  • Collaborative team environment with direct interaction across IT and business teams
  • Hybrid work flexibility with strong leadership support
  • Long-term stability within a well-capitalized, operationally critical organization
