What you will do at the Department of Economic Equity and Opportunity:
This position provides analytical support for the Worksite Safety Program, including data management, reporting, and compliance tracking to support program implementation and performance monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and interpret Worksite Safety data, including complaints, violations, corrective actions, contractor performance metrics, and data cleansing and extractions.
Reporting & Dashboard Development:
Prepare and present safety reports, dashboards, and regular KPI reporting to support program oversight and leadership decision-making.
Compliance Data Management:
Maintain and manage data within designated systems of record. Document data quality issues to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data in the system.
Trend Analysis & Program Insights:
Identify trends, patterns, and recurring compliance issues to support continuous improvement of the Worksite Safety Program.
Corrective Action Tracking Support:
Track and monitor Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and compliance timelines to support enforcement and resolution efforts.
Support to Complaint & Investigation Process:
Provide analytical and documentation support for complaint tracking, investigations, and case management activities.
Interdepartmental Coordination Support:
Coordinate with DEEO staff and infrastructure departments to compile, validate, and report compliance-related data and provide data entry training to minimize missing data or errors in data pipelines.
Regulatory & Program Reporting:
Assist in preparing required reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders, as applicable.
Process Improvement Support: Support the development and refinement of reporting processes, data systems, and program workflows. Produce SOPs and create audit trail documenting data validation processes

- Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, data science, business analytics, public policy, or a related field
Experience:
2-3 years’ experience in data analysis, data management and reporting
Experience with ERP Systems, LCP tracker, or database management (preferred) Minimum one (1) year of experience in contract compliance, construction, or related fields. Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to lead and manage a diverse set of activities in support of departmental objectives.
Ability to understand the objectives of a strategic plan and align resources to accomplish those objectives.
Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information at all times.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, relative autonomy, and general review.
Ability to self-start; assume ownership in setting goals.
Requires strong knowledge using various types of office-related and program software.
Utilize exceptional time management skills and effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks/initiatives.
Able to interact effectively with a diverse group of employees as part of leading and managing a team in its execution of departmental work plans.
Read/comprehend written materials, write/record legible notes, and correctly complete required forms.
Knowledge of LCP Tracker or other Labor Compliance software preferred.
Licensure:
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License Upon Hire

- Preferences

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety construction management, or related field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Three (3) years of safety construction management or related experience with federally funded compliance.
Experience leading and developing staff training and program reporting.

Hours:
The typical work routine 8 hours Monday through Friday, but also subject to frequent early morning, evening, weekend, emergency, and holiday work.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed indoors in a standard office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, air conditioning, and noise levels.
Limited outdoor exposure may occur when accompanying staff to worksite locations, with potential exposure to heat, humidity, rain, wind, and other environmental conditions.
May be exposed to fluids, compounds, or chemicals used in office environments and outdoor work areas.
Local travel for site visits and stakeholder engagement may be required.
This role is eligible for teleworking work from within the greater Harris County region in compliance with the Harris County Telework Policy. This eligibility may be removed at any time due to work demands or unsatisfactory productivity.
Physical Demands:
Sitting for extended periods with frequent standing and walking and occasionally ascending/descending stairs.
Visits to indoor and outdoor work locations.
Occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of constant force necessary to move objects.
This position involves coordination with contractors, project managers, and various departments. It also involves interfacing with organizations and individuals outside of Harris County, as well as elected officials of Harris County.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
