The School of Public Policy invites applications for a Data Analyst. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position normally involves working Monday to Friday, splitting time between the Foothills Campus and the School of Public Policy Office (downtown campus), with a hybrid work program as an option. Peak times for this position will occur near deadlines for reporting analysis and results to project partners. Overtime is rarely expected but can occur due to deadlines.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this position will support the deployment of an AI-integrated web platform, and perform analysis and visualizations on diverse datasets in support of the Child Policy Lab program, which is embedded within the One Child Every Child (OCEC) research initiative. This role will work closely with the Child Policy Lab team members, and in collaboration with OCEC's Comprehensive Data Accelerator.
In 2023, the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) invested $125 million in University of Calgary's One Child Every Child: A Transformational Child Health Research Initiative. This ground-breaking initiative will transform child health research in Canada, promote Indigenous-led knowledge creation and self-determination, and drive discovery and innovation. One Child Every Child is a Parallel Paths project that has Indigenous and non-Indigenous Paths. All members of the program will perform training on work with Indigenous people, communities and data. Experience with Indigenous community-based work is an asset for members of the OCEC research team.
Presentation and communication of research and research results to a variety of audiences and in different venues is also involved (i.e. presentations at conferences, workshops, team meetings as well as in various written publications). Opportunities for applied training are available, related to statistical methods, qualitative inquiry and partner engagement, policy analysis, grant writing, knowledge translation of clinical research into practice and policy and multi-partner collaboration with a range of investigators (policy analysts, epidemiologists, psychologists, qualitative researchers, legal analysts, statisticians and health service agencies).
