Role Description
The Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting the company’s financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes. This position is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys turning data into insight, working cross-functionally, and contributing directly to business decisions.
The Financial Analyst will assist in preparing forecasts, analyzing results, and maintaining financial models that help guide strategic and operational decisions. This role will report to the VP of Finance and collaborate closely with R&D, and Operations to ensure that financial performance aligns with corporate goals and project milestones.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, gathering input from department leaders and updating models accordingly.
- Prepare and analyze monthly budget-to-actual reports; identify key drivers of variances and communicate findings to management.
- Support development of cash flow forecasts and scenario modeling to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Maintain and improve financial models.
- Collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate expense coding, accruals, and cost center reporting.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports for KPIs.
- Participate in financial reporting and board-level presentation prep, compiling and summarizing data for executive review.
- Support ongoing and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses to evaluate business initiatives, capital projects, or grant-related activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or management reporting (biotech or life sciences experience a plus).
- Advanced Excel proficiency and strong analytical skills with experience in BI or ERP tools. (Power BI, NetSuite, Adaptive, etc.).
- Working knowledge of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and variance analysis.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights.
