We are currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team, ideally with strong experience in a professional services environment. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in project-based financial management, client billing, and revenue recognition, collaborating closely with project leads, vendors, and leadership to ensure accurate financial tracking, timely invoicing, and compliance with accounting standards.

What You’ll Do

Project Accounting & Revenue Management

  • Review all ongoing projects at month-end and prepare client-facing invoices accurately and on time.
  • For milestone-based projects, coordinate with project leads using standard templates to confirm which deliverables should be invoiced or recognized as internal revenue.
  • Maintain the project financial tracker showing total contract value, invoiced amounts, and remaining balance.
  • Track both software and services revenue across projects to support monthly revenue reporting.
  • Support accurate revenue recognition in accordance with project milestones and service delivery progress.

Client and Vendor Management

  • Collect vendor quotes and calculate project margins using the approved standard template (based on prior-year methodology).
  • Prepare quotes for Partner and Managing Director approval; once approved, submit to clients.
  • Upon receipt of client purchase orders, issue license invoices and forward POs to vendors to obtain their invoices.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure smooth financial operations across the project lifecycle.

Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Prepare all required month-end journal entries, including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and loan entries.
  • Assist with project setup, payroll, and other related finance processes.
  • Process Accounts Payable (A/P) invoices and apply customer payments promptly and accurately.
  • Support preparation of month-end financial statements, variance analysis, and reconciliation of accounts.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare and file government remittances, including GST/HST, PST, and WSIB.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and maintain organized financial documentation.
  • Provide insights and reporting to management on project profitability, utilization, and revenue trends.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role within a professional services firm (consulting, IT services, legal, or similar project-based environment).
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, client billing, and revenue recognition principles.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and financial modeling).
  • Proficiency with accounting or ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, SAP, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is CAD $75,000 – $85,000. Eligible individuals may also participate in our bonus program.
