Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Senior Financial Analyst to join our fast-growing company. This pivotal role will be instrumental in building the financial foundation of the company as we scale across direct-to-consumer digital channels and traditional retail. The ideal candidate will have expertise in e-commerce/digital channels while also serving as a finance generalist, providing strategic insights across the entire business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and refine financial models for the ecommerce/digital business unit: revenue forecasting (e.g., online sales, subscriptions, digital advertising), cost modelling, margin analysis, scenario planning and what-if analyses
- Monitor and analyse key ecommerce/digital metrics (e.g., site traffic conversion, average order value, customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), digital marketing ROI, channel mix, subscription churn) and integrate them into financial performance reports
- Conduct variance analysis (actual vs budget vs forecast) and identify drivers of performance gaps — e.g., digital campaign effectiveness, online returns/refunds, fulfillment cost shifts, platform fees
- Prepare regular financial reports, dashboards and presentations for senior management; translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (digital marketing, ecommerce operations, retail sales, and supply chain) to inform business decisions: e.g., promotional planning, new channel launches, platform enhancements, marketplace strategy
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning for the digital/ecommerce business unit — aligning financial plans with business strategy
- Evaluate investment opportunities relevant to the digital channel (e.g., platform enhancements, marketplace expansion, app development, fulfillment automation) by performing ROI/NPV analysis, payback modelling, risk assessment
- Identify and drive process improvements in financial planning & analysis (FP&A) for digital business — e.g., automate reporting, build dashboards, integrate data from digital platforms & analytics tools, improve data quality
- Stay current on industry trends, benchmarks and best practices; identify risks and opportunities (for example, changing consumer behavior, new digital channels, platform fee changes, regulatory impacts)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field. MBA, CFA or other financial certification is preferred
- 3-5+ years of progressive financial analysis experience, preferably with some exposure to ecommerce, digital business or online channels
- Strong financial modelling and forecasting skills; comfort with scenario and sensitivity analysis
- High proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros, etc.). Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics / Adobe Analytics) or Power Query is a strong plus
- Knowledge of ecommerce/digital business drivers and metrics (conversion rate, traffic, AOV, CAC, LTV, churn, digital marketing ROI, marketplace economics)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and presentation skills: ability to present complex financial insights to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to work cross-functionally, influence business partners and drive change in a dynamic environment
- Familiarity with ERP/financial reporting systems (NetSuite or similar) and an understanding of accounting/financial controls
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs associated with a high growth environment
