About Swipesum

Swipesum is a high-growth fintech consulting and technology company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.

Recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Disruptive Fintech Companies in the World, Swipesum serves as the Chief Payments Officer-as-a-Service for businesses... from publicly traded companies to mid-market enterprises and franchise groups.

We help clients navigate the complexities of payment processing, uncover hidden costs, and build modern financial infrastructure. Using our proprietary platform, Staitment, we perform deep, data science-driven audits of merchant statements to identify inefficiencies, benchmark pricing, and deliver measurable savings.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Financial Data Analyst with a strong data science toolkit and 2–4 years of professional experience in data analytics, financial modeling, or fintech operations. This is a client-impact role where you’ll turn complex transaction and financial data into actionable insights, automated dashboards, and strategic recommendations for organizations ranging from SMBs to Fortune 500 companies.

You’ll collaborate across consulting, engineering, operations, and customer success, supporting everything from merchant statement audits to product improvements in Staitment. Your work will directly influence cost savings, pricing negotiations, and technology development.

This position is ideal for an analytical professional ready to take the next step... someone with hands-on data science experience who’s excited to own projects, solve financial puzzles, and make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Financial Auditing

  • Analyze and interpret complex merchant processing statements from processors like Elavon, Stripe, Worldpay, and Fiserv
  • Identify interchange downgrades, surcharges, and inefficiencies across multi-year datasets
  • Build detailed financial models and reports to quantify savings opportunities and guide pricing decisions
  • Perform forensic audits and data reconciliation for clients spanning public companies to SMBs

Data Science & Automation

  • Use tools like SQL, Python, and Excel to clean, structure, and analyze large datasets
  • Develop repeatable data pipelines and automation scripts to streamline statement ingestion and reporting
  • Partner with engineers to enhance Staitment’s AI-driven audit capabilities and data intelligence features

Reporting & Visualization

  • Create dashboards and visual reports (Tableau, Looker, or Power BI) to communicate trends in transaction volume, fees, and savings
  • Deliver custom client dashboards tracking KPIs such as approval rates, chargebacks, and interchange fees
  • Present complex financial data in clear, actionable formats for executive stakeholders

Consulting & Strategic Insights

  • Serve as the data expert on client projects, joining calls to explain findings and support consultants with insights
  • Build scenario models (“what-if” pricing, volume shifts, or processor migrations) to support decision-making
  • Provide data-backed recommendations on optimizing payment structures and reducing costs

Operational Finance & Reconciliation

  • Audit partner payouts and residuals, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and partner payments
  • Reconcile financial data across systems and identify discrepancies or missed opportunities

What You’ll Bring

Experience

  • 2–4 years in a data analyst, data scientist, or financial analyst role with real-world, professional experience
  • Proven record of analyzing complex financial or transactional data and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Background in fintech, SaaS, payments, or consulting (preferred)

Tecnical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets (advanced formulas, pivot tables, modeling)
  • Experience with SQL (required) and Python (preferred)
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI)
  • Comfort with data transformation from unstructured sources (PDF statements, CRM exports, API data)
  • Understanding of payment processing models, interchange fees, and network assessments

Core Traits

  • Analytical mindset with business intuition, able to connect data to strategy
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for accuracy and process improvement
  • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills for client and internal presentations
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, project-based work and enjoys solving new challenges.
