The Opportunity

As a Junior Financial Analyst, you will embark on a rotational FP&A assignment supporting Abbott’s Corporate functions. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to gain hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analytics, month-end close, capital planning, and business partnership. The role is Excel-intensive and ideal for candidates looking to apply and grow their financial and analytical capabilities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

This is a non-exempt, onsite position and requires working 4–5 days per week at Abbott Park (5 during initial training).

What You’ll Work On

  • Learn and execute key financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, analytics, business support, and general accounting.
  • Includes training on SAP financial modules and Oracle/Hyperion planning systems.
  • Serve as a finance partner for one or more corporate functions such as IT/Business Solutions, Engineering, Legal, Procurement, or Finance.
  • Support month-end close activities in partnership with the Abbott Shared Services organization.
  • Prepare financial reporting, variance commentary, and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Develop forecasts and supporting analytics; prepare materials for business partners and Finance leadership.
  • Identify risks and opportunities using internal and external data.
  • Assist with project reviews, capital expenditure (RCE) preparation, and provide analytical support for vendor contract negotiations.
  • Participate in consolidation of results and forecasts across Corporate functions; assist with ad-hoc analyses and executive review presentations.
  • Offer ideas to streamline and improve financial processes and reporting.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment; engage in training, mentoring, and continuous learning.

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)

  • Quickly learn Abbott systems, processes, and financial tools.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting during month-end cycles.
  • Produce reliable analyses and support the forecasting process.
  • Build strong working relationships with business partners and finance teams.
  • Demonstrate initiative by suggesting process improvements and asking thoughtful questions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; minimum GPA 3.0.
  • 0–2 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or accounting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (advanced functions preferred).
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through school, internships, or organizations.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner effectively across teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience developing financial models.
  • Prior exposure to SAP, Oracle/Hyperion, or similar financial systems.
  • Strong presentation development skills.
  • Positive, proactive mindset with eagerness to learn.

  • Onsite Requirement: 4–5 days/week (5 during training).
