WDNA Americas is at the forefront of Environmental Intelligence, transforming telecom infrastructure into powerful, hyperlocal weather observation systems. Our pioneering technology leverages existing cellular networks to monitor rainfall, detect severe weather, and generate real-time environmental insights at unprecedented resolution.

As we expand across the Americas, we are building a multidisciplinary team of meteorologists and weather analysts who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of climate resilience, early warning systems, and data-driven environmental analytics. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of telecommunications, atmospheric science, and innovation — helping communities, governments, and industries better prepare for extreme weather in a changing climate.

Role Description

As a Weather Intelligence Analyst / Meteorologist at WDNA Americas, you will play a key role in our mission to deliver next-generation weather monitoring and environmental intelligence solutions. You will analyze real-time atmospheric data derived from telecom networks, validate environmental datasets, support nowcasting operations, and contribute to the development of advanced analytics products.

You will collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to ensure our environmental outputs meet the highest standards of accuracy and operational relevance — ultimately supporting early warning capabilities and climate resilience strategies across the Americas.

What You’ll bring

  • A genuine passion for weather, climate, and environmental phenomena
  • A sharp analytical mindset with a natural curiosity for data patterns and anomalies
  • The ability to think critically and work methodically with large and complex datasets
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in data validation and quality assurance
  • Excellent communication skills — you can translate complex meteorological concepts into clear, actionable insights
  • A collaborative spirit and eagerness to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • Comfort with ambiguity and new technologies — you thrive when building something new

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and analyze real-time weather data generated from telecom-based environmental sensors
  • Validate and quality-control rainfall, severe weather, and atmospheric datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Support nowcasting operations, providing timely analysis of extreme weather events including heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and other hazards
  • Generate reports and environmental intelligence products for internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and patterns in hyperlocal weather data to improve monitoring systems
  • Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to refine algorithms, analytics pipelines, and product outputs
  • Contribute to R&D efforts exploring new applications of telecom-derived environmental data
  • Support early warning and climate resilience initiatives across multiple regions in the Americas

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Climatology, Geography, or a related field
  • 1–5+ years of experience in operational meteorology, weather analysis, environmental monitoring, or a related discipline
  • Solid understanding of weather systems, atmospheric dynamics, and extreme weather events
  • Experience working with large datasets, meteorological data formats (e.g., GRIB, NetCDF, CSV), and analysis tools
  • Proficiency in at least one data analysis or programming tool (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, GIS software)
  • Familiarity with data validation, quality assurance, and statistical analysis techniques

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience with nowcasting systems or real-time weather monitoring platforms
  • Knowledge of radar meteorology, remote sensing, or satellite-based observation systems
  • Familiarity with telecom infrastructure or signal propagation concepts (e.g., microwave link attenuation)
  • Experience with machine learning or AI applications in weather or environmental sciences
  • Background in climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, or early warning systems
  • Previous work with government agencies, NGOs, or international organizations on environmental projects
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced tech environment
  • Published research or contributions to atmospheric science or environmental analytics
  • English & Spanish or French
