Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our DCFO Office is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst with specialization in Oracle EBS. This individual will be responsible for Oracle EBS configurations, troubleshooting, and functional support.

What will I be doing?

  • Conducts financial analyses in support of the business operations in the assigned division, using proper accounting treatment; provides subject matter expertise in analyzing and responding to inquiries and solving complex problems. Proficiency in Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Financials, specifically:
    • General Ledger (GL) – journal entries, reconciliations, multi-currency, and consolidation.
    • Fixed Assets (FA) – asset capitalization, depreciation, and reporting.
    • Projects – project accounting, cost allocation, and integration with GL.
  • Creates and applies reporting templates, financial models and automated processes to meet legal and corporate standards, including meeting deadlines
  • Assesses the implications of new processes, systems and projects from an accounting perspective, (e.g. detecting defects, limitations, cost-benefit implications, and risks prior to implementation)
  • Provides subject matter expertise to support other financial professionals and activities (i.e. accountants, auditors, budget managers)
  • Supports internal and external clients and provides analyses, reports, and financial tools
  • Works closely with internal and external auditors and other consultants, to maintain financial integrity of the business and increase understanding of financial applications, controls, and standards
  • Tests new functionality from an accounting/financial control perspective and provides impact assessments
  • Recommends process and control improvements (e.g. automating technology or accounting practices) and provides clear standards of practice, protocols, and direction for internal and external partners
  • Exercises due diligence in fiscal management and reporting, independently and when part of a project delivery team to reduce financial, legal, and reputational risks
  • Provides recommendations to protect Metrolinx’s financial integrity; shows stewardship of resources with innovative options and attention to revenue generation and cost savings
  • Advises other employees on topics related to the incumbent’s area of expertise, but does not guide employees in their day-to day activities
  • Guides and mentors other financial professionals on the team; establishing policies and procedures for analysis and reporting and reviewing their work
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to align Databricks and Power BI solutions with business needs.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Commerce, or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent. Coursework or certification in Oracle EBS Financials or ERP systems is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience as a financial analyst including hands-on experience with Oracle EBS R12 Financials modules (GL, FA, Projects).
  • Experience with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) principles
  • Knowledge of business practices, financial analysis and reporting; understands the financial and accounting impact of business processes to evaluate current and future business activities (e.g. audit, legal, and reporting requirements)
