We’re looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to play a key role in shaping inventory and gross margin insights for a multi‑billion-dollar retail business. This role works closely with Finance leadership and senior stakeholders, building complex models, influencing strategic decisions, and owning high-impact forecasting and scenario planning. You’ll deepen your technical expertise by working across relational databases and large data sets, with a strong emphasis on querying and leveraging SQL to uncover actionable insights. What You’ll Do:
- Conduct moderate to complex financial analysis regarding Inventory and Gross Margin; interpret analysis and provide recommendations to business partners and management.
- Create & maintain monthly, annual, and long-range plans and forecasts relating to Inventory and Gross Margin; monitor and provide analysis on FX (Foreign Exchange) impacts on Gross Margin and Inventory.
- Partner with Merchandise Planning & Analysis (MP&A) to understand and quantify risks associated with the company’s Open-To-Buy position.
- Perform ad hoc data analysis to create and produce reports that support business needs; partners with various project leads to provide financial analysis and quantify impacts.
- Project-manage unique analysis, scenario plans, and complex business models, including coordinating the work of peers
About You:
- A post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Finance/Accounting, Commerce/Economics, Mathematics); working towards a business-related designation (e.g. CPA) is an asset.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience conducting complex financial analysis and building financial models; Inventory/Gross Margin analysis experience in a retail environment is an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL (including the ability to write and execute queries).
- Knowledge of database design, statistical theory, data manipulation concepts, and proven analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular MS Excel (analysis features).
- Ability to work independently, accurately estimate the time required to complete projects, follow up on assignments, and keep appropriate team members informed of progress and/or risks.
