Position Summary The Data Analyst, Finance plays a critical role in transforming raw financial and operational data into trusted, analytics-ready datasets for end users across Finance and the business. This role combines strong technical skills in data transformation and ETL processes with a solid understanding of financial accounting, financial reporting, and financial planning & analysis (FP&A). Working closely with Finance, IT, and Analytics teams, this role ensures that data flowing through the enterprise data platform (i.e. Snowflake) for finance users and stakeholders is accurate, well-structured, well-documented, and aligned to financial concepts and reporting requirements. The role is essential in enabling self-service reporting, management insights, and enterprise decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Cleansing and Transformation: Design and manage data structures within the data platform environment (i.e. Snowflake). Implement rigorous cleaning protocols within Snowflake to resolve data discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of financial or operational datasets. Transform data to be reporting ready for use with external tools like Power Query for access to "single source of truth."
  • Data Governance & Quality: Assist in supporting data governance practices for finance data. This includes maintaining thorough documentation of data definitions and lineage, enforcing data quality controls and reconciliation checks, and ensuring proper data security and compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Data & Business Analysis: Translate Finance and FP&A reporting needs into reliable data solutions by performing exploratory analysis, defining data requirements, validating data through UAT, and data analysis to identify gaps, ensure data quality, and continuously improve reporting and data processes.

Required Qualifications

Education: College diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Work Experience: 3+ years of experience in financial analytics, data analysis, or a role supporting finance or corporate reporting. (Asset: experience supporting ERP implementations or finance transformation initiatives; experience in the healthcare, insurance, or financial services sector.)

Computer Skills: Proficiency with data analysis using cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure), visualization/transformation tools (e.g., Advanced Excel, Power Query/BI, Python), and ability to learn new data technologies or programming languages, e.g. Python/SQL.

Other Qualifications: SnowPro Certified, Certified Analytics Professional (CAP); Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate (Power BI); and/or a professional designation or progress toward one, such as CPA or CFA.

Language Skills: English, written and spoken. French would be considered an asset.

Core Competencies

  • Demonstrates strong capability in cleansing, transforming, and governing financial and operational data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability. Effectively translates Finance and FP&A requirements into reporting‑ready datasets through sound data modeling, exploratory analysis, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, enabling trusted insights and a single source of truth.
  • Strong business acumen, including knowledge in financial accounting, reporting, and FP&A processes, with the ability to translate technical data into meaningful business insights.
  • Communicates clearly with all audiences, tailoring messages as needed, and delivers technical findings in accessible formats.
  • Takes initiative, proactively tracks down information, addresses issues promptly, and recommends mitigation strategies, even in ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills—independently interpreting information, identifying relationships, and sharing actionable conclusions.
  • Quick learner with curiosity, able to grasp new concepts efficiently.
  • Excellent time management—organizes priorities, adapts timelines, and acts with urgency.
  • Builds strong relationships, fosters collaboration, and adapts to diverse working styles and stakeholder needs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to bridge technical data concepts with financial language and business context.
